Maydel headquarters is located in Chicago’s beautiful Ravenswood neighborhood at 1746 W Wilson Avenue, conveniently near Metra, the Brown Line, and several bus lines. There is also ample parking for bicycles and cars.
We are open for classes, events, and shopping by appointment.
Accessibility
Maydel has a small, permanent ramp from the sidewalk to the doorway. All visitors must ring/knock to be let in. The entrance is ADA-compliant at 33.5 inches wide and all shopping areas are wheelchair accessible.
We have a light rolling cart or lap trays to hold items while you’re shopping and a height-adjustable work table for classes and events.
We’re very sorry, but our restroom is not currently wheelchair accessible. We’re working on fixing things and finding alternatives, but renovations are expensive and it might take us a little while to save the funds needed.
Getting here by train
L: Take the Brown Line to Montrose, then walk two blocks north on Ravenswood Ave. to Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Ravenswood and Hermitage.
Metra: Take the Union Pacific North (UP-N) line to Ravenswood, then walk two blocks south on Ravenswood Ave. to Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Ravenswood and Hermitage.
Getting here by bus
81 Lawrence: Get off at Lawrence and Hermitage (Westbound) or Lawrence and Ravenswood (Eastbound), then walk two blocks south on Hermitage or Ravenswood to Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Ravenswood and Hermitage.
78 Montrose: Get off at Montrose and Hermitage, then walk two blocks north on Hermitage Ave. to Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Hermitage and Ravenswood.
22 Clark: Get off at Clark and Wilson, then walk three blocks west on Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Hermitage and Ravenswood.
50 Damen: Get off at Damen and Wilson, then walk three blocks east on Wilson Ave. Maydel is located on Wilson between Ravenswood and Hermitage.
Getting here by bike
There are dedicated bike lines on Damen (North-South) and Lawrence (East-West), as well as on Clark St. north of Lawrence. There are also shared lanes on Clark south of Lawrence (North-South) and Montrose (East-West). Maydel is located two blocks south of Lawrence, three blocks east of Damen, two blocks north of Montrose, and three blocks west of Clark.
There are multiple permanent bike racks located on our block. We’re very sorry, but there is currently no space to park bikes inside.
Parking
There is free, all-day parking available on several streets near Maydel, as well as metered parking directly in front of our location. Streets with free parking adjacent or near to our block are:
- Wilson between Hermitage and Paulina
- Hermitage between Wilson and Sunnyside
- Paulina between Wilson and Sunnyside
Please note that other streets may have restricted residential or commercial parking—read signs carefully!
