Shipping rates

**Maydel will pay for your shipping on U.S. orders of $50 or more.

All orders are shipped using USPS First-Class service. 

Depending on the size of the order, U.S. customers can choose:

  • $3 First-Class Mail with no tracking (up to 17 skeins)
  • $5 First-Class Parcel with tracking (any size order). Orders of 18 skeins or more must use this method.

In the coming months, we will add more shipping options, including Priority and Express.

International shipping is calculated at checkout based on destination and order size.

Shipping times

**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot guarantee any shipping times, regardless of destination or shipping method. 

U.S. orders typically take 1 week or less to arrive. International orders have unfortunately been taking several weeks, and sometimes months, to arrive. 

Fulfillment

Every order is lovingly packed and shipped at our headquarters in Chicago, IL. It typically takes 1–2 business days to get orders out the door, but we’re a small company staffed by real human beings so we sometimes take breaks, like on weekends and holidays. We will post a notice on the site if the warehouse is on vacation or there’s some other delay. Otherwise, if you need an order shipped out A.S.A.P., please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.

International taxes, duties, and customs fees

Maydel does not collect any taxes (including VAT), duties, or customs fees on orders shipped outside the U.S. You may be charged for these by your local office when you go to pick up your package.

Missing packages

If your order has not been received, you can contact us to open a search request 7 days after your package was supposed to have arrived within the U.S., or 60 days after it was supposed to have arrived outside the U.S. This inquiry deadline is set by USPS; we won’t have access to any more information than you do until we file the search request, which is typically resolved within three weeks.

Maydel can’t guarantee replacement of orders that are sent without tracking. For more information, please see our returns and refunds policy.

Packaging and sustainability

In order to minimize our carbon footprint, we use the least packaging possible to get your order safely to its destination. We also pay to offset the carbon of shipping and delivery whenever possible. Therefore, while we’re happy to add a personal note to the person receiving the order, we do not offer extra gift wrapping. For more information, please see our sustainability statement.
