Description
Gilt (gold-plated) and silver-plated twist is a three-ply twisted thread for metalwork embroidery. It has a relatively smooth profile but high sparkle, which makes it great for outlines and stems. Does not stretch. Each of the three plies is a gold- or silver-wrapped silk, so the ends must be plunged and secured to avoid fraying.
Sold by the yard or 10g spool. 10g is approximately 16 yards.
Size 1 1/2 (1.5) is approximately 0.70–0.75mm in diameter.
