Description
Sarashi is a soft, gauzy cotton fabric with a wide range of uses. In Japan, sarashi is used to make everything from clothing to dish cloths, and is an ideal base fabric for sashiko embroidery. It comes in a range of finer and coarser weaves and features occasional natural slubs.
This premium sarashi has a weave of about 32 threads per in/13 threads per cm, great for making household linens like napkins, handkerchiefs, and the classic multipurpose “hana-fukin” (Japanese “flower cloth”).
Made in Japan by Miyamoto. Available in white, 13 inches wide. Sold in custom-cut lengths by the inch (max. 393 length in. per piece). Also available in full bolts of 10m/393 in., which will produce exactly 14 hana-fukin cloths (13 x 28 in./33 x 71cm).
