Description
Silver plated smooth passing is a fine thread made from a wire-wrapped silk core. Perfect for filling in smooth areas of metalwork projects, typically added via couching.
Sold by the yard or in full spools of 25g (approx. 56 yds/51m in size 6). Smaller sizes have more yardage; larger sizes have less.
Sizes are as follows:
- Size #6: approximately 0.7mm in diameter
- Size #5: approximately 0.5mm in diameter
- Size #4: approximately 0.4mm in diameter
Silver-plated smooth passing thread is made from a thin copper wire plated in 99% pure silver and coiled around a silk thread core. The total metal content of the wire is 10% silver and 90% copper.
Because silver has a tendency to tarnish, it’s recommended to keep it out of humidity and direct sunlight and to make sure your hands are clean (with no lotion/cream) when touching/working with the thread.
