Karen Barbé

Karen Barbé is a Chilean designer and embroiderer currently based in Chicago. She’s been inspiring and teaching hand embroidery to women since 2012. Noticing how her students felt frustrated about their color choices, Karen set out to teach about color in an accessible way. Her book “Colour Confident Stitching”—published in four languages—and her Domestika online class present a simple and hands-on method that helps makers understand color and create palettes for their own projects. Her approach to the technique and colour denotes her background in design and constant exploration to inspire new ways of embroidering.
